Train: what it actually involves
- No direct service. Every journey needs one change, usually at Redhill.
- Journey time: the fastest connection is about 1 hour, but the average is around 2 hours 27 minutes once you count waiting for the connection.
- Cost: advance fares start from about £17.80 per person. Buying on the day costs more.
- Then add: getting to Tunbridge Wells station, parking or a taxi at that end, and carrying your bags through the change at Redhill.
- Early flights: for a 6am departure you need to be at Gatwick around 4am, and the trains are not running.
Taxi: what it actually involves
- Door to door: 40 to 50 minutes from your front door to the terminal.
