Groombridge sits about 4.5 miles south-west of Tunbridge Wells and straddles the county line: Old Groombridge, around St John’s church, is in Kent, while the larger New Groombridge is in East Sussex. Its old station is now the end of the Spa Valley Railway heritage line, so for mainline trains we take people to Eridge or Ashurst, both under two miles away, or into Tunbridge Wells station. Bidborough is a small ridge-top village about 4 miles north of Tunbridge Wells, on the A26 between Southborough and Tonbridge, with the 11th-century church of St Lawrence at its centre. Three stations are roughly two miles off, so you can choose Tonbridge for fast London trains, High Brooms and Leigh on the Redhill line. It feels close to town, but for pricing it counts as outside Tunbridge Wells, so a journey that starts and ends beyond the town includes the miles to reach you and return. Speldhurst lies about 3 miles west of Tunbridge Wells in Kent, a quiet village known for St Mary’s church and its stained glass by Burne-Jones and William Morris. The nearest trains are at Tunbridge Wells and High Brooms, both around two and a half miles away, and we cover both early commuter drops and late pick-ups off the evening trains. Note that Speldhurst is outside Tunbridge Wells for pricing, even though it is close: if your journey starts and finishes outside town, the price includes the miles to reach you and get back. Mark Cross is a hamlet in East Sussex, in Rotherfield parish, about 6 miles south of Tunbridge Wells where the A267 meets the B2100. It is small, with St Mark’s church on the main road, so most trips start at a farm or house down a lane, and it helps to tell us the property name when you book. Wadhurst is the nearest station, under three miles away, with Eridge, Frant and Crowborough not much further. Kilndown is a Victorian estate village in Goudhurst parish, about 9 miles south-east of Tunbridge Wells and just off the A21 near the Sussex border. It was built in the 1840s by Viscount Beresford, who also gave it Christ Church. Visitors come for Bedgebury National Pinetum and the National Trust’s Scotney Castle, and we collect from both. There is no station close by: Wadhurst is about five miles away, and many people prefer the drive to Tunbridge Wells for more frequent trains. Brenchley is a Wealden village about 8 miles east of Tunbridge Wells and 3 miles south of Paddock Wood, sharing a parish with Matfield. The Grade I listed All Saints Church stands at its heart. Paddock Wood station, roughly two miles away, is the natural drop for London and Tonbridge trains, and we can meet early departures as well as late arrivals. Its best-known building is Poundsbridge Manor, a timber-framed house built in 1593 and now Grade II listed. With no shop or station, almost every trip from here is by car: we run people to Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells stations, to Penshurst station at Chiddingstone Causeway on the Redhill line, and to the airports.
